Migori County Assembly speaker Boaz Okoth and other leaders on Monday led the County residents to stage anti-IEBC demonstrations in Migori town.
The demonstrators carrying placards inscribed with anti-IEBC messages matched in the streets of Migori town demanding the removal of the Commission’s CEO Ezra Chiloba and other senior IEBC officials whom they accused of bangling the August 8 Presidential elections.
Okoth and Kanyasa member of the County Assembly Jackie Paul said NASA was not afraid of Presidential elections but only against the speedy electoral reforms being undertaken by the ruling party and call for resignation of purported tainted IEBC officials.
The speaker said that elections will not be held if the electoral body does not heed to the irreducible minimum demands being agitated for by the opposition.
Okoth further revealed that NASA coalition was ready to paralyse the elections if their Jubilee counterparts did not withdraw their quest to change electoral laws.
We people of Migori and Kenya at large want to participate in a free, fair and credible process that will make the country united forever, he said.
Migori County ODM Organising Secretary Joseph Nyambori said the electoral body had to make the necessary reforms asked by the opposition so as to create a fair and credible playground for both parties in the repeat presidential elections on October 26, 2017.
He said the people’s will and voice must be respected and we have to make a clarion call for Chiloba to get out of the office to allow for reforms to take place and have credible and fair elections.
