NAIROBI BOURSE LAUNCHES MOBILE APP TO FACILITATE ONLINE TRADES

NAIROBI– The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has launched a mobile app which will allow investors to perform online trading in the hope that it will expand access to market information besides attracting the youth to fully participate in the capital markets.

Capital markets stakeholders are calling for more innovations in the sector to ensure more Kenyans participate in the markets.

The acting chief executive officer of the Kenya ICT Authority, John Sergon, says modern innovation in the capital markets will attract more youth to embrace the markets which have been dominated by the older generation.

Innovators in Kenya are being challenged to leverage on the increased mobile phone and Internet penetration to develop e-platforms which can boost financial inclusivity by making it easier for investors and brokers to link up.

They urged small and medium businesses to take advantage of the new NSE platform to showcase their portfolios to attract both local and international investors.

The new app will allow users to follow the NSE trading live besides offering market information and securities trading in real time.
