Mwingi North MP Eng Paul Nzengu on Thursday dismissed media reports indicating that he has applied for nomination to the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA).
According to the reports, it’s alleged that the MP picked the application forms in a move political pundits opine is to create room for the comeback of NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka into mainstream politics as Mwingi North MP in the National Assembly.
In a terse rejoinder, Eng Nzengu rubbished the local media reports terming them malicious and a crafty fabrication, whose sole intent is to hurt his reputation and prejudice his position as Mwingi North Member of Parliament.
‘I only picked EALA nomination papers for Kennedy, Kalonzo’s son. I have no intent of plotting such schemes to resign my parliamentary post for Wiper Party leader’s comeback into active politics,’ said Eng Nzengu, a close ally of the former Vice-President.
The legislator, through his lawyer Jemimah Keli, has written demand letters to the Nation, Standard and The Star newspapers to retract the misleading information.
In a letter from Keli and Associates dated November 22, 2017 in possession of Kenya News Agency on Thursday, the MP said that failure to honour the demands of letter will trigger litigation in court.
‘I am demanding an apology and correction of the published article from the said media houses,’ said Eng Nzengu.
He said that the claims of him joining EALA have sparked uproar amongst his constituents and fellow legislators.
I want to assure my constituents that I have their five year term mandate to serve them. I have no other business outside Mwingi North, added Eng Nzengu.
Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo is currently in Germany attending to his ailing wife Pauline.
