Mvurya cleared to defend governor’s seat

Kwale Governor and Jubilee candidate, Salim Mvurya was on Thursday among four nominees cleared to contest for the gubernatorial seat.

Speaking after he was handed the certificate at the Kenya School of Government, Matuga, Mvurya asked his opponents and other candidates to practice issue based politics and avoid propaganda in their campaigns to ensure peace during the electioneering period.

Accompanied by his running mate, Fatuma Achani, the governor expressed confidence that he will retain the seat despite stiff opposition from his rivals.

I have nomination certificate and now what is remaining is to go to the ground to campaign. I am sure I will be re-elected for my track record speaks for itself, he said.

Chirau Mwakwere of Wiper, promised to give his opponents a run for their money saying that once elected, he will focus on poverty eradication and job creation for local youth and women.

Others cleared were, Dr. Issa Chipera (ODM) and County Assembly Speaker, Sammy Ruwa who is vying as an Independent candidate.
