Mumias CDF Official Quits

Mumias West CDF chairman Henry Wanyundi has resigned from the committee, citing irreconcilable wrangles with MP Johnson Naicca.

Wanyundi, who was elected to chair the committee in June 2013, was to serve for three years, till June 2016.

“But due to irreconcilable differences with the Member of Parliament and patron of the CDF committee, I hereby tender my resignation as both member and chairman of the CDF committee,” he said.

Addressing a press conference in Mumias town on Monday, Wanyundi said he had officially presented his resignation letter to the CDF Board secretariat on July 16.

“I didn’t want my differences with the MP to affect CDF committee operations and development of the entire constituency. That is why I deemed it fit to resign as chairman and committee member,” he said.

Naicca, however, dismissed the resignation, saying Wanyundi was removed from the committee after he failed to fulfill his mandate.

“Most of the cheques have been taking long to be signed because he operates from Nairobi. This has led to delay in our development programmes,” he said.
