Mrs. Muthama urges Ukambani residents to re-elect President Uhuru

The Jubilee candidate for Machakos Women Representative, Agnes Kavindu Muthama has urged Ukambani residents to re-elect President Uhuru Kenyatta in recognition of the many development projects he has initiated in the country and particularly in Ukambani.

Speaking on Thursday during the Madaraka Day celebrations at Kenyatta stadium in Machakos town, Mrs. Muthama said the president had initiated and implemented several projects both nationally and in Ukambani during his first five-year tenure.

If we re-elect him for another five years it will enable him complete some of the remaining projects as well as initiate fresh ones, she said while citing the newly-launched SGR, the tarmacking of the Konza-Machakos-Kangundo road and the provision of the subsidised unga.

On her decision to stand on a Jubilee party in a region that is dominated by Wiper Democratic Movement, Mrs. Muthama said it was the only party willing to sponsor her since Wiper, the dominant party had its preferred candidates.

You know very well that if I had sought the Wiper ticket, I would not have gotten it, she said without elaborating and urged the electorate to choose the best candidate regardless of the sponsoring party.

Choose the best leaders regardless of their party as parties will take us nowhere. You may choose the wrong leader on account of the party and suffer for the next five years, she told the gathering which was presided over by the Machakos County Commissioner, Matilda Sakwa.

The aspirant promised Machakos residents that if elected she will ensure that women, the youth and the disabled are empowered.

The function was also addressed by the Ngelani/Mutitu ward aspirant (independent), Peter Ndolo and Machakos Deputy County Commissioner, Samuel Ojwang’.
