The once famous Mr. World Kenya pageant is back!
The pageantry has been reintroduced by the Ashleys’ Mr. amp; Miss World Kenya franchise and will feature in this year’s competition. The last contest of its kind was held in 2007 and according to the organisers, “great public demand” has forced the franchise office to have the competition back.
“We have decided to grant this opportunity to the boy child so as to have an alternative voice and for the boys in society. We believe in the constitutional guarantee of equal opportunities to all Kenyans as long as they meet the set criteria,” said the franchise CEO Terry Mungai during the 2015 edition launch in Nairobi on Tuesday.
The final gala to select this year’s representative to the finals in China, will be held in Malindi later in the year. The contestants will be drawn from the 23 finalists of the 2014 event, save for the reigning title holder Idah Nguma.
