Minor kills his friend in Migori

A minor aged eight years succumbed to his injuries on Sunday evening after he was flogged by a seven year old boy in Migori County.

The bizarre incident at Oruba village in Suna West Sub County, Migori County left the whole village shocked as the body of the victim was found sprawl at a field in the estate.

The deceased identified as Tony Omondi is reported to have been physically assaulted by his assailant over what could not be immediately established.

Witnesses reported that the two had differed over unknown issue before the younger boy pounced on his friend with kicks and blows.

But speaking to KNA Tuesday, the deceased’s father, Mr. George Otieno, said his son was kicked and punched several times on the chest and head by the 7year old after the two disagreed on the playing materials and kits.

“We suspect the two boys fought over a ball they had tried to wrestle from each other after which my son got injured,” said Otieno on phone.

The deceased was pronounced dead after briefly receiving treatment at Oruba

nursing home in Migori town where he was rushed.

Otieno said he was away with his wife when they got a call from the neighbours that their son was hospitalized and on reaching the facility found him dead.

Mr. Otieno added that his son was not suffering from any ailment at the time of his demise and he suspects that he suffered a serious head injury that caused his death.

Confirming the incident, Migori county police commander David Kirui said the two children were playing when the fateful incident occurred.

He said the deceased was found unconscious and foaming from the mouth and was rushed to hospital where he died.

Kirui said the police were yet to establish what transpired before the fateful incident saying they were investigating.

He said the suspect was being detained at Migori police station helping the police to investigate the matter.

The body of the deceased is currently preserved at Migori level four hospital mortuary waiting for postmortem
