Ministry investigating claims of sodomy in Kibra School

The Ministry of Education has launched investigations into allegations that a teacher at Toi Primary school in Kibra has been sexually molesting a class six student.

The suspect, (name withheld) who is employed by the school board was arrested yesterday and is currently being held at the Kilimani police station where he is alleged to have been sodomizing pupils.

During an interview conducted by Kenya News Agency at the school today, the head teacher, Mr. Mark Omuyunga, claimed that he got the information last week and employed a counselor to advice the victim while still conducting further investigations.

The class teacher informed me about the issue and we are still investigating in order to know if there are still students who have gone through the same experience said Omuyuga.

The Teacher Service Commission County Director, Bernard Amachas said that they got the information yesterday and that the Ministry of Education has set a team to conduct thorough investigations on the school to establish the veracity of the allegations.

We have assigned investigators in the school to get full information about the incident and whoever is found guilty will be held accountable because it seems the head teacher has been aware of the incident and kept quiet, stated TSC County director.

The boy’s mother narrated that his son was lured with money and couldn’t resist the abuse because he feared that the teacher would punish him.

It is only until when he started experiencing difficulties while using the toilet that he revealed that his teacher has been abusing him sexually. I took him to Nairobi Women Hospital where tests were carried out on him and the doctor confirmed that he was sexually abused, said the mother of the victim.

She added the head teacher asked her not to report the matter to police but sort it out internally within the school but she declined.
