Shock and grief engulfed Migori town Wednesday morning after the area OCPD Moses Chepyegon collapsed and died in his office.
The deceased had reported to his office in the morning and was preparing for work before he complained of feeling drowsy and sweaty.
His colleagues said he started foaming in the mouth and convulsing before he collapsed.
Migori CID boss Benedict Kigen told the press at Migori Level Four mortuary where the police boss’s body was taken for preservation that they were taken by surprise by the sudden demise of their colleague.
We reported together in the office and he was fully dressed in his official uniform when the incident happened,” Kigen said.
Kigen said at first the deceased thought he had malaria but collapsed and passed out.
He was rushed to Migori Referral Hospital where attempts to resuscitate him by doctors failed.
Kigen said his colleague had not complained about any illness before the incident.
Chepyegon was posted to Migori police division at the end of October 2014 after major transfers of the county security department following an incident where President Uhuru Kenyatta function at Migori Primary School was cut shot by rowdy youths who threw shoes at the presidential dias.
Migori county police commander David Kirui and Governor Okoth Obado said the incident was unfortunate.Shocked residents milled at the mortuary to view the body of the deceased who helped reduce run away insecurity in the town.
The public said Chepyegon was a gentleman and had courtesy in handling the public in his office.
“He was a gentleman and a soft spoken crime buster who had a cordial working relationship with his juniors, seniors and the public,” an officer said.
