Police in Vihiga county have arrested a clinical officer for allegedly raping a 15-year-old form one student.
The girl had gone for a medical examination at the Vihiga County Referral Hospital on Wednesday after being raped by another man when the clinical officer defiled her, the police said.
The girl’s mother had reported her missing on November 9 after travelling with a female friend but was later found in Muraka, Kakamega county, on November 12.
She told her mother she had been raped by a stranger who had drugged her.
When she went for a medical examination, the clinical officer allegedly locked himself in the screening room and raped her.
The girl’s mother said she became uneasy when the examination took longer than expected.
Speaking to the Star at the hospital yesterday, she said: “My daughter has been defiled by two different people on two different occasions. The clinical officer took advantage of her naïvety and locked himself in the examination room from 10am to 6pm.”
She said doctors transferred her daughter to a different room without her knowledge.
“When I eventually found her at 6pm, she told me the clinical officer had raped her. I have reported it to the police.”
Acting police commander Alfred Angengo said: “We are still following up on crucial leads from the hospital before concluding our investigations. As soon as we get tangible evidence, we shall arraign the suspect in court.”
The girl’s mother said police hid her daughter’s P3 form to frustrate the case.
But Angengo said it was only removed from the file to make copies.
