NORTHERN CAPE – On 11 March 2020 at approximately 02:00 members of Kathu D-relief were busy conducting crime prevention duties in Mapoteng area in Kathu when they received information regarding suspected stolen goods in the area.
After operationalising the information received, the members apprehended 4 suspects at approximately 03:00 on a premises in Mapoteng. The four male persons were searched and the members were found in possession of a generator, a welding machine, a set of 4 mags and tyres as well as a toolbox containing various tools.
The suspects could give not provide proof of ownership when questioned. It was also later discovered that the stolen property was linked to three (3) house breaking cases in Kathu.
The value of the recovered stolen property amounted to R30 000-00.
The John Taolo Gaetsewe Cluster Commander, Major General Johan Bean commended the members for their contribution in squeezing the space for criminals to operate in the Kathu area.
