The Meru county assembly minority leader has called for training all the boda boda riders and building of bumps on main roads to reduce accidents.
Jackson Muriiki was speaking at the funeral of three youths who died in a boda boda accident.
The burial was in Muriiki’s Ruiri-Rwarera ward on Monday.
He said many young people in their most productive stage are losing their lives.
Muriiki said apart from proper training and discipline, boda boda riders should form groups to train each other in discipline.
“We must prevent such accidents and loss of life. The government should urgently intervene because the nation’s future depends on the youth,” he said.
Muriiki deplored that people are dying at an alarming rate due to carelessness and lack of training.
The MCA said they are consulting with the government to have road bumps built on blackspots.
