Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has sought partnership with investors in a bid to improve residential units that were put up by the defunct municipal council of Eldoret.
Governor Mandago revealed on Thursday that his Government was determined to provide affordable housing units in Eldoret and other towns in the county.
Mandago said the units constructed by the municipal council occupied a lot of space and were old fashioned saying he would oversee construction of storey buildings that he said would not only save on space but would also give room for modernization.
The county boss said they would partner with National Social Security Fund, National Housing Cooperation and other stakeholders to implement the project.
Talks are already ongoing and we are confident that the project will begin shortly so that our people can have access to reasonable and adequate housing, Mandago said
The governor said he would implement the Urban Planning Act and enforce its compliance in all constructions in Eldoret and other towns adding, Our objective as a Government is to put in place an Inspection and compliance unit to expedite on this.
