Man murders his wife in domestic quarrel

Police in Narok County are holding a 65-year-old man who allegedly killed his 60-year-old wife at Kimogoro village in Melelo area of Narok West Sub-county following a domestic quarrel last night.

Confirming the incident, Narok South OCPD Mr. Anthony Shimolu said the suspect had returned home after a drinking binge and picked a quarrel with the deceased over undisclosed issue.

The elderly man is said to have gone home at around 10pm when he quarreled with his wife before it degenerated into a fight with the wife hitting him with a metal bar on the head.

In retaliation the man shot his wife Kirimatisho Kaiyoni with an arrow after which she died on the spot.

The neighbours who heard the commotion intervened, only to find Kaiyoni’s body lying on the floor while suspect bled profusely from the head.

The body was removed by police to Longisa Sub-County Hospital mortuary in Bomet County pending postmortem and further investigations into the incident.

The suspect is recuperating at the same hospital under tight police security.

The incident comes barely a month after another man on Christmas day last year, allegedly beat his wife to death at Kisiriri trading centre in Narok North Sub County after they differed over a domestic issue.

The 27 year old suspect is being held at the Narok town police station awaiting full prosecution.

There has been an increase in cases of violent crimes in the county; some of them culminating into murder and attributed to over-indulgence in alcohol and other drugs.

Last year alone, over 25 murder cases were reported in the county, some of the killings were linked to drugs and alcohol as they happened in bars and other social places in the county.
