An irate mob on Sunday night lynched a man who had attempted to steal a sheep from a homestead in Mwamba Village of Endebess Sub County.
Endebess OCPD Wilfred Mogere said the deceased whose identity is yet to be established was using a bicycle to ferry the sheep he had stolen before the area residents were alerted and responded swiftly.
He said residents have been on high alert following increased cases of theft of domestic animals during the night.
Area chief Rukia Majengo said the residents had complained about criminals being released after arrest by police on bond terms making them to recommit offences again.
She complained of increased crime in the area and urged residents to team up with security agents to curb the vice.
She however warned residents against taking the law in their hands adding that it was only last week when another suspect was lynched in the area. The suspect had stolen a motorbike.
The suspect’s body was taken to Kitale referral hospital mortuary.
