A 45- year -old man was Wednesday charged before a Thika court with defiling a 12- year-old girl and attempting to defile another one.
Stephen Nderi Kamau appeared before the Thika Principal Magistrate Ms. Anne Maina charged that on May 23 this year in Kiangombe area in Ruiru Sub-County, he defiled a 12 year old girl and caused her serious injuries.
He also faced another charge of attempting to defile another girl in the same area but on a different date.
The court heard that the accused who is a farm hand in the area was caught red handed by the mother of the 12 year old girl who he had previously attempted to defile the second girl.
The woman raised alarm attracting members of the public who apprehended the man and took him to the local police station where both cases were preferred against him.
The prosecution while opposing his bail application said the accused was considered a dangerous man by the residents of Kiangombe area and should remain in police custody for his own safety.
He denied the charges and was released on a 500,000 shillings cash bail. He will appear before the same court on September 25 this year for hearing of his case.
