A man was arraigned in a Narok Court on Tuesday over defiling a six year old girl.
Bernard Nderitu is alleged to have defiled the minor on January 2, this year at Sakutiek village in Narok North Sub County and arrested on February 3 this year.
He denied the charges before the Narok Senior Principal Magistrate (SPM), Tito Gesora and was released on a Sh.200, 000 bond.
The case will be mentioned on February 21 and heard on March 19 this year.
Similarly, last Friday, a 24 -year -old man was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by a Narok Court after he was found guilty of attempting to defile a 16-year-old school girl.
Water Nyangau Ombati who appeared before the Narok Senior Resident Magistrate (SRM), Hosea Nganga and was charged with defiling the minor on May 4, 2017 at Majengo estate in Narok town.
A fortnight ago, a 27 year-old-man was sentenced to serve life imprisonment by a Narok Court after he was found guilty of two counts of defiling two minors aged nine and 11 years respectively.
The Narok Children Officer, Pilot Khaemba has on several occasions lamented the increasing cases of defilement in the area and where victims collude with the culprits to tamper the with investigations and witness in court.
Some defilement cases go unreported due to the retrogressive cultural practices that do not value girl education; the parents of the defiled girls push the minors into marriage so that they can benefit from cheap dowry from their suitors, he said.
He observed that witnesses tend to be hostile and support accused persons leading to the adjournment of such cases.
