Makueni Chief of Staff charged with creating disturbance

Makueni Chief of Staff, Moses Kivungi was on Monday arraigned in a Makindu Court charged with being drunk and disorderly.

According to the charge sheet, Kivungi was arrested on Sunday night alongside, Asina Maweu at Camp David restaurant in Makindu town for creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.

The duo denied the offence before Senior Resident Magistrate (SRM), Gerald Mutiso and was released on a Shs.2, 000 cash bail each pending the hearing of the case on October 2.

The Chief of Staff also face another case before the same court, whereby he and four others are charged with threatening to beat former MP Kalembe Ndile at Darajani village on July 11 last year.

And yesterday, the SRM adjourned the said case for the last time after Kivungi’s lawyer, Thomas Onyancha complained that the case had been adjourned six times after witnesses and the complaint failed to turn up.

The case will be heard on September 18.
