Lodwar High School alumni have started raising Sh20 million towards the construction of a modern library at the school.
The Old Boys Association Chairman John Lomurukai said the project would be part of celebrating 50 years since the school was established.
The school’s Principal Patrick Lokwayen said the project would help improve the school performance.
The old boys have also offered to buy text books and also motivate teachers and students so that the school performance improves, said Lokwayen.
To achieve this objective, the alumni over the weekend held meetings in Lodwar, Eldoret and Nairobi where they agreed to raise a minimum of Sh20, 000 each. The Nairobi team, however, settled for Sh40, 000 as the minimum contribution by each member.
The school has produced leaders among them the Turkana North Member of Parliament Christopher Nakuleu, Turkana County Assembly Speaker Erastus Lokaale, and the County Executive Committee member for Finance Robert Lotelengo.
Lodwar High School is one of the national schools in the County and among the top performers. Other national schools include Lodwar Girls High School located in Loima Sub-county.
