Lodwar Catholic Diocese Launches Campaign Against Graft

The Catholic Diocese of Lodwar, Bishop Dominic Kimengich has kicked off campaign against graft that saw staff under the diocese sign forms vowing to fight the vice.

Bishop Kimengich said the initiative is in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s call to all citizens to fight corruption.

While launching the campaign against corruption on Monday, the cleric said the church will focus on people mandated to offer services to the public, but were instead diverting public funds to personal use.

The church will soon expose such people in support of Kenyans who are tired of corruption, he said.

The Bishop also mentioned cattle rustling and loss of lives in Turkana as a source of corruption, because those engaging in it have commercialized the activity, while accusing some civil servants of pocketing funds meant for public services.

On his part, Jairus Alinga from the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission said they are planning to take the campaign to all the parishes in Turkana, through their organization that works at the grassroots.

We will publish the names of the corrupt individuals in newly revived Magazine called Sauti Ya Jamii, said Alinga.
