Leaders welcome Rotich’s reappointment to Cabinet

Leaders in Elgeyo Marakwet have welcomed the reappointment of Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Henry Rotich, saying he has done a good job in the docket and deserved a second chance.

They thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto for including Rotich in the new Cabinet.

The leaders who included Keiyo South legislator Daniel Rono and Micah Kigen congratulated Rotich after they learned of the nomination from the president’s televised address from State House yesterday.

Kigen together with Rono spoke at Fluorspar grounds after attending an engagement meeting with the residents on compensation of the landowners who were displaced by fluorspar mining company.

Kigen said Rotich comes from the region and his appointment comes as an advantage to the residents of Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Rono on the other hand said the reappointment did not come as a surprise to him as he expected it considering Rotich’s performance track record in the last five years.

He congratulated Rotich and asked him to keep on burning the mid night oil and rolling his sleeves to deliver to the nation.

Rotich was born in 1969, and was nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury on 23rd March 2013 by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Prior to this appointment, Rotich had been the Head of Macroeconomics at the Treasury, Ministry of Finance, since March 2006.

He had also worked at the Research Department of the Central Bank of Kenya and between 2001 and 2004, he was attached to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) office in Nairobi as an economist.
