Leaders from North Eastern thank President for appointments

A section of leaders and elders from North Eastern region have thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing individuals from the region to key government positions.

Addressing the press separately,they said the appointments meant a lot to the area residents.

Among notable appointments include CSs Amina Mohamed (Education), Aden Mohamed (Industrialization), Mohamed Elmi (chief administrative secretary), Mohamed Shidiye ambassador representing offshore and Noordin Haji who has been vetted by Parliament for the position of DPP.

Speaking to the press in Garissa town Monday, national assembly majority leader Aden Duale said all along the residents knew that the President and his deputy meant good for the region and so the appointments did not come as a surprise.

During the campaigns we rallied our people to vote for Jubilee and convinced them that they stood a chance of benefiting more by voting for Uhuru and Ruto. They heeded to our advice and they are now getting the dividends of doing so, Duale said.

We want to thank the president for paying back to the people of North Eastern region. We now have one of our own holding one of the critical independent offices. We have cabinet secretaries, chief administrative officers, principal secretaries, ambassadors and heads of parastatals in this government, he added.

On his part Kenya livestock marketing council vice chair Dubat Amey said residents from the region will accord the President all the necessary support to make sure that he delivers on his mandate.

Today we can very comfortably say, Uhuru government is our government. We want to assure him that we will stand with him through thick and thin, Amey said.
