Leaders in Kisii have appealed to well-wishers to help sponsor Kenya Inter County Sports Association (KICOSCA) games scheduled for August, 2018.
Speaking during a breakfast meeting for stakeholders in a Kisii hotel on Saturday, the leaders said it would be costly to host over 10,000 visitors during the event which will take place 12th to 18th August.
Area Governor, James Ongwae noted the event was not factored in the Budget and his government developed a supplementary Budget to accommodate it, adding that information about the county hoisting the event reached his office only six months ago.
He urged the business community and the contractors to give any form of support that will make the event a success.
Ongwae noted that it was the business community in Kisii, including hotels and vegetable vendors who stood to benefit from the high number of visitors.
The Deputy Governor, Joash Maangi applauded managers of the event for choosing Kisii County to host the 6th edition, saying it was best placed.
He urged stakeholders to prepare to host the visitors, urging them to expect higher purchasing power during the event time.
The County Commissioner, Godfrey Kigochi urged the planning committees to involve the security team, and underscored the importance of identifying places visitors will be, including hotels and sports grounds so that security operational order can be made early.
