Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and stakeholders are set to undertake a censors of the big four wild animals in five counties of northern Kenya.
The Isiolo Senior Warden, Peter Mbote said that the exercise targeting elephants, gravy zebra, giraffe and buffaloes would be done in Marsabit, Isiolo, Samburu, Meru and Laikipia Counties starting from Monday November 20, 2017.
Mbote said the census would take 10 days, saying the residents of the targeted areas have been alerted so that they would not be scared of increased number of planes overflying their region over the period.
The KWS county boss said that incidences of poaching have been reduced due to good working relationship between the KWS and conservancies which are owned by local people.
Mbote appealed to Wananchi to support the exercise by availing proper information on where the animals have migrated.
