Two staff members of Kenya Airways (KQ) cabin crew were today arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with substances believed to be narcotics.
The arrested staffs were set to travel to Cotonou in Benin through Lagos in Nigeria for duty.
According to airport detectives privy to the ongoing investigations, the substances were found in their hand luggage.
We are waiting for analysts to come to carry out further tests, said KQ senior officer, adding that the flight was to take off at 8am but they were detained at 7.45am.
Speaking to KNA Nairobi via a phone interview, the senior officer said that the airline fully committed to cooperate with authorities in a bid to get to the bottom of the matter.
He added that Kenya Airways adheres to all regulations and laws of Kenya and the countries it operates in.
The senior officer explained that all members of crew trained on these regulations and laws are expected to adhere to them at all times.
Kenya Airways remains committed to the integrity of its operation and does not condone any illegal activities by its staff members, he said.
