Kisii leaders urge the nation to respect law

Leaders in Kisii County have stressed the need for everybody including those holding powerful government positions to embrace the rule of law for peaceful coexistence amongst Kenyans.

The leaders led by their chairman Prof Sam Ongeri were speaking during a fundraiser for Nyakoiba SDA church in Bomachoge Chache where they displayed rare unity. Gusii leaders have for long been divided along political lines.

Kisii Deputy governor Joash Maangi, Nyamira senator Okong’o Omogeni, Woman Reps Janet Ongera (Kisii) and her Nyamira counterpart Jerusha Momanyi were among the 11 top leaders from the two counties present.

The leaders said that they have agreed to unite in order to develop the region.

They said they were no longer divided along either Jubilee or Nasa lines and that they support President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga’s initiative to unite the country.

Senator Omogeni who is also a senior counsel particularly told the Interior Ministry to respect court orders saying state officers were setting a wrong example to Kenyans
