Some major roads in Nairobi were on Friday closed for US President Barack Obama’s visit.
The stretch between University Way roundabout to Westlands was closed at 2pm, affecting motorists using Uhuru Highway, Chiromo Road and Museum Hill interchange.
Mpaka Road, Muthithi Road, and Westlands Road were also closed.
Nairobi County traffic boss Edward Mwamburi said more roads were closed at 4pm.
These include Uhuru Highway and Mombasa Road all the way to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to get to their destinations,” said Mr Mwamburi.
He advised people driving from Westlands to use Ring Road and Parklands Road to get to the city centre.
CLOSED ALL DAY
On Saturday, Forest Road, Limuru Road and United Nations Road will be closed all day.
Haile Selassie Avenue, Moi Avenue, Tom Mboya Street, Harambee Avenue and Landhies Road will be closed from 11 am.
The Central Railway Station and the nearby matatu terminus will also be closed.
At 3pm, it will be the turn of Kenyatta Avenue and State House Road to be shut down.
Thika Superhighway will be closed from 7am to 5pm on Sunday, the last day of President Obama’s visit.
