Kerio Residents Told to Be Wary of Migrating Jumbos

Residents of Kerio Valley in Marakwet East and West subcounties have been told to be wary of marauding elephants during annual migration.

Elgeyo Marakwet Kenya Wildlife Service senior warden Dominic Kilonzo yesterday said the migration from Rimoi Game Reserve to Turkana South has begun earlier than usual.

Kilonzo said the migration normally begins in September.

“We are still establishing what has caused the elephants to migrate early. They migrate in September when the dry season begins,” Kilonzo said on the phone.
