NAIROBI– The Kenyan contingent to the Winter Olympic games slated for Feb 9-25 in Pyeongchang, South Korea was officially flagged off by Sports Principal Secretary Peter Kaberia.
Kenya will be represented by Austria based Skier Sabrina Wanjiku Samider, the sole Kenyan representative in the Pyeongchang games.
The Alpine Skier qualified for the snow event in 2017 and will face an uphill task in her debut at the senior level.
According to Kenya’s Head of delegation Philip Boit, Sabrina is targeting a top 20 finish.
Meanwhile, the national Olympic committee of Kenya received a sponsorship boost of 12 million shillings to prepare Sabrina for the games.
She will become the second Kenyan to take part at the Winter Olympics after Philip Boit, who represented the country in 1998, 2002 and 2006.
