NAIROBI, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto have embarked on an intensive 12-day, 30-county campaign blitz to meet citizens from all walks of life, in all corners of the country, ahead of the Aug 8 general election.
This is the second round of their all-counties campaign. Last Sunday, they completed a tour of 14 counties which they covered in seven days, during which President Kenyatta put his call for unity and peace at the heart of his campaign agenda.
The President’s final campaign rally will be in the capital, Nairobi, on Aug 6, 48 hours before Kenyans begin voting to elect their president, senators, National Assembly members as well as county governors and county assembly members.
The upcoming meet-the-people sessions will see the president and his deputy traversing 30 counties, making more than 200 campaign stops.
State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu said that during the campaign tour, the President will interact with Kenyans to account for his last four-and-a-half years in office while he discusses how he plans to transform the country and the lives of Kenyans if re-elected.
The President is going directly to the people to demonstrate what the August election is about, as someone who is fighting to deliver benefits, success and prosperity to the people versus an opposition challenger who is only after power for himself, said Manoah.
He said the president was looking forward to engaging with Kenyans from all spheres of life directly to speak about his Action Plan to create more than 6.5 million jobs in the next five years and offer free secondary education. The president, who has already given interviews to 14 radio stations, is due to speak to at least 40 more, directly reaching Kenyans on his Action Plan for Kenya.
The President’s itinerary will take him to the counties of Nyeri, Murang’a, Marsabit, Samburu, Bungoma, Kakamega, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, Embu, Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Kajiado, Nakuru, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Bomet, Kericho, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Kitui, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Garissa, Migori and Uasin Gishu and Nairobi.
