ADDIS ABAB– President Uhuru Kenyatta has invited Ethiopia’s new Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, to visit Kenya to discuss ways of enhancing relations between the two neighbours.
Kenyan Foreign Affairs Minister Monica Juma delivered the invitation letter from President Kenyatta to Abiy here Tuesday. I am pleased to be here to deliver a message from President Kenyatta to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, she said.
First of all I want to congratulate the new premier and the people of Ethiopia through him for what was the political transition which has very good lesson for Ethiopia for managing diversity but also for the African continent, and also bringing him a formal invitation for a visit to Kenya.
The Minister further stated that the two countries had always worked together from the beginning. We expect that the relationship will continue from strength to strength.”
Ethiopian Foreign Minister Workneh Gebeyehu, who also attended the meeting, said the prime minister had accepted the invitation from Kenya.
Workneh affirmed that the longstanding excellent relation between the two nations would continue under the new leadership of Ethiopia. The two countries have enjoyed good neighborly relations since Kenya’s independence.
