KENYAN PRESIDENT CALLS FOR CLOSER STATE-CHURCH PARTNERSHIP FOR DEVELOPMENT

President Uhuru Kenyatta has called for enhanced partnerships between the Church and the Kenyan government for accelerated social-economic development.

He says the government recognizez and appreciatez the role played by religious organizations in boosting its efforts to uplift communities, empower citizens and promote development.

“Let me appreciate the church for the commendable job it is doing to complement the Government efforts in reaching out to the less fortunate members of the society,” he said at the dedication service for the new Faith Evangelistic Ministries (FEM) Family Church here Sunday by renowned German evangelist Rev. Reinhard Bonnke.

The president emphasized the need for Kenyans to play their individual and collective roles effectively for the country to realize its development targets and he assured the Church that the government was ready to partner with it in all programmes which impacted positively in the lives of Kenyans.

He told the congregation who included senior Government officials, Ambassador Yahel Vilan of Israel and delegations from 16 countries that the government was grateful for the work of religious organizations across the country.

The president singled out the various humanitarian missions undertaken by FEM for the needy, including special feeding centres for orphaned and destitute children in Kilifi County.
