KENYAN PARLIAMENT RECEIVES PETITION SEEKING REMOVAL OF ETHICS COMMISSION CHAIRMAN

The National Assembly, the lower house of the Kenyan Parliament, has received a petition seeking the removal of the Chairman of the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC), Philip Kinisu, from office.

The petition, signed by LAWYER Albert Mokono, wants the EACC chairman removed from office on grounds that he is the majority shareholder of a firm alleged to have had irregular dealings with the National Youth Service and thereby creating a conflict of interest.

The petitioner argues that the integrity of Kinisu has been punctured and therefore he should step aside to allow for proper investigations.

House Speaker Justin Muturi has referred the petition to the Parliamentary Justice and Legal Affairs Committee which now has 14 days to dispense with the matter.
