KENYAN DEPUTY PRESIDENT RUBBISHES OPPOSITION CLAIMS OF PLOT TO RIG 2017 ELECTIONS

NAIROBI, Deputy President William Ruto has vehemently rubbished allegations by Kenya’s opposition that the ruling coalition is plotting to rig next year’s presidential election.

The opposition has in recent days stepped up its criticism of the ruling coalition. Among other things, the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD), the leading opposition grouping, has accused the ruling Jubilee Alliance of a plot to manipulate next year’s presidential poll.

These sentiments have caused Deputy President William Ruto to respond in kind, accusing the opposition of spreading falsehoods.

According to Ruto, the rigging claims by the opposition have no basis and he asserts that the outcome of the August 2017 elections will be above reproach.

Addressing leaders from Kisii and Nyamira Counties who called on him at his Sugoi home in Uasin -Gishu County, the Deputy President also called on Kenyans to shun divisions.

He rallied the Abagusii community through their political leadership to embrace the newly formed Jubilee party as part of the efforts to unite the country.
