kenyan Deputy President William Ruto has kicked off the final round of campaigning for the country’s Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary (Minister), Amina Mohammed, for the position of Chairperson of the Africa Union (AU) Commission.
The campaign started with a trip to Mali where Ruto met several African leaders, including Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal and Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni on the sidelines of the France-Africa Summit for Partnership, Peace and Emergence held in Bamako over the weekend.
On Monday, the Deputy President was in Swaziland where he met Prime Minister Dr Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini.
Ruto who was accompanied by Amina and Environment Cabinet Secretary Judy Wakhungu, said Kenya believes that the future of individual countries was tied to that of the continent as a whole.
As such, we must talk collectively about that future which the Africa Union stands for and plays a pivotal role.”
