KENYAN AUTHORITIES ISSUE CLOSURE NOTICES TO FOUR NIGHTCLUBS FOR NOISE POLLUTION

NAIROBI, The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has issued closure notices to four Nairobi nightclubs operating for causing noise pollution.

The Nairobi County executive in charge of environment, Emma Muthoni, said that an operation was carried out by NEMA officials, accompanied by security officers this week at the nightclubs following complaints received from neighbourhood residents of loud music.

Muthoni warned that nightclubs which fail to adhere to regulations would face the legal consequences. She said the authorities would carry out further crackdowns to find out if club managements had complied with the notices.

NEMA plans to carry out similar operations in various parts of Nairobi to clamp down on rogue nightclub operators.
