Kenya will host the 55th International Congress of EUHOFA, the the world’s leading association for hotel school directors and principals, which is expected to bring together representatives of more than 200 leading tourism and hospitality institutions from across the globe.
The six-day congress, the second time it is being held in Africa, 1996 will be held at the Kenya Utalii College main campus here between Nov 28 and Dec 3, says the acting principal of the college, Kazungu Mwango.
The more than 300 foreign delegates will be drawn from the international hospitality and tourism industries as well as academia. The main focus of this congress is mainly student engagement, said Kazungu, who added that the college successfully pitched and won the right to host the event.
According to the principal, the theme of this year’s congress is “Service Excellence” whereby participants will be interrogating the tourism industry vis-A-vis the prevailing global trends with a view to adopting the world’s best practices.
In addition, local tourism and hospitality schools will engage other reputed training institutions across the world with a view to enrich their curriculum and training experience.
Kazungu will be traveling to Antwerp, Belgium, this week to brief the EUHOFA Executive Board on local preparations for the congress.
