KENYA: POLICE USE TEAR GAS TO DISPERSE NASA SUPPORTERS

NAIROBI, Police have used tear gas to disperse opposition supporters marching on Mombasa Road ahead of Raila Odinga’s return to the county.

Leaders of the National Super Alliance mobilised dozens of their supporters to the airport Friday morning to welcome their leader who has been on a 10-day visit to the US.

There was heavy police presence around Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where the opposition leader and Kalonzo Musyoka are expected to land soon.

At around 10am, police blocked some Nasa leaders from entering the airport. The leaders were accompanied by a crowd that was chanting anti-Jubilee slogans.

One police officer was injured during the fracas after he was hit by a stone hurled by a Nasa supporter.
