KENYA: ONE KILLED, 29 INJURED IN NAKURU CLASHES, TRIGGERED BY CATTLE RUSTLING

NAIROBI– One person has been killed, and 29 others injured including three police officers in a fresh wave of violence in Oleposimoru Nakuru County.

The violence is suspected to be a retaliatory attack that resulted in the torching of several houses and lose of livestock.

Among those admitted in Olenguruone Hospital, some are in critical condition and have been referred for specialized treatment in Nairobi.

Three police officers who sustained gunshot wounds are among those recuperating here.

The situation is said to have been triggered by the theft of 8 cows.

Police have been deployed in the area to contain the situation.

The region has been in the spotlight in recent days with fighting reported allegedly among two communities over cattle raids.

This incident coming just days after a similar incident in which four people were killed and 58 houses were torched.

Area leaders have called for peace in the area as government through the ministry of interior pledged support to those affected to rebuild their lives.
