Illegal immigrant of Somali origin charged in Nyeri

A young Somali national was on Friday fined Shs. 20,000 or serve six months imprisonment by a Nyeri Court for being in the country illegally.

Ismaihil Abdi Ali alias Abourashid Abdi Duroy , 25-year- old admitted to being in the country illegally after he was arrested at Bondeni area of Kieni West Sub county, Nyeri, on December 28 without any valid entry permit.

According to the prosecution, the suspect is said to have been arrested following a tipoff from a member of public that there was one area resident who was hosting him in his home.

It was then that officers from Mweiga Police Station raided the home of Stephen Mbogo where the suspect was staying and arrested him.

Resident Magistrate, John Aringo ordered that the suspect be deported after paying the fine or serving the sentence.
