Nyeri majority leader Kamuri Mwangi yesterday said he will not weep if Governor Nderitu Gachagua is impeached.
Mwangi, formerly one of the governor’s ardent supporters, said Gachagua has failed the Nyeri people.
He was speaking on the phone from Mombasa where the 46 Nyeri MCAs are on an eight-day retreat.
“The gist of the matter is that Governor Gachagua has failed Nyeri and that’s not why we are in Mombasa. If need be, he will also feature in our agenda and I won’t cry if he goes,” Mwangi said.
He accused Gachagua and his supporters of performing sideshows to cast MCAs in a bad light.
The governor has, however, been quoted as saying he will continue with his plan and development agenda, despite an impeachment threat.
On Sunday, the MCAs flew to Coast for a retreat to discuss the budget and the annual development plan.
Some MCAs, who sought anonymity, said they will slip the impeachment item in the agenda.
An MCA said they must moot the impeachment idea because the governor planned to give free seeds ahead of El Niño and introduce the NHIF programme for the elderly and vulnerable people without consulting them.
