Househelp Denies Beating Up Employer

A househelp was yesterday charged with assaulting her employer. Purity Nzilani, 28, is accused of beating and injuring Nelly Wairimu on July 18 at Garden estate in Kasarani.

The court heard that Wairimu was in the house, when she asked Nzilani to fetch water for her. Nzilani, however, allegedly declined, saying there was no water in the tap.

Wairimu went out to ask the neighbours and was told there was water. When she turned on the tap in her house, she found water.

A quarrel then ensued between her and the househelp. Police were told Nzilani attacked Wairirmu and scratched her cheeks before biting her hand, threatening to kill her. Nzilani denied the charges before Makadara chief magistrate Heston Nyaga and was released on Sh3,000 bail. The case will be heard on November 25.
