Here’s What Was On the Menu At Obama State Banquet

President Uhuru Kenyatta Saturday night hosted US President Barack Obama to dinner at State House, Nairobi.

Those in attendance had a selection of exotic Nederburg Cabernet Sauvignon (red wine ) Nederburg Sauvignon Blane (white), Moet amp; Chandon champange, Tusker Lager, Tusker Malt or Tusker Lite.

A roulade of grilled Kenyan vegetables would set the taste buds going with the Kenyan Highlands famous for growing some of the world’s best teas and coffee providing sweet potatoes that would be infused with an Indian curry leaf to offer the soup of the day.

The main dish comprised a duo of cannon of lamb or supreme of chicken, minted broccoli and asparagus with vegetarians getting the option of vegetable lasagna.

A chocolate mocha mousse was served for desert with visitors later nibbling on coconut coloured macaroons as they sipped on the country’s finest tea and/or coffee.

The chief guest was entertained by award winning local music group Sauti Sol famed for the song ‘Sura Yako’ one of President Kenyatta’s favourite songs which he sings word-for-word.

They joined the quartet for a shuffle where President Obama showcased his rather exemplary dance moves amid cheers from those in attendance.

Among those present were former President Mwai Kibaki, Former prime Minister Raila Odinga, County Governors led by Nairobi’ s Evans Kidero and Alfred Mutua of Machakos, Members of Parliament, Cabinet Secretaries and other invited guests including Obama’s family.

President Obama was due to depart Kenya for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where he is set to address African Heads of State at the AU Summit.

Prior to his departure, the US President was set to hold an exclusive interview with Capital FM’s Olive Burrows.
