Gusii leaders have vowed to promote President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga’s unity pact.
Speaking at Nyabara Ibere during home coming event of Borabu legislator, Ben Momanyi,in Nyamira County, the leaders said the local community was united and geared towards building a strong front in the national political leadership, come 2022.
Nyamira governor, John Nyagarama led the group by pledging to support the new found unity signed between the two leaders and invited them to visit the region to discuss development issues.
Dagoreti North legislator Simba Arati said the elected leaders owed the community a duty to mobilize its members to unite for a common purpose.
Arati whose installation as the Abagusii Spokesperson had raised eye brows in some quarters, vowed never to allow other communities or individuals to underrate the numerical voting bloc of the community.
Kisii county women representative, Janet Ong’era claimed it was high time the community raised one of its own to vie for the two top seats in the next general elections.
She said, the community’s 2million votes including the diaspora was significant to bargain for a top seat political chip.
Kisii county senator Prof. Sam Ongeri, in view of recent developments in the county, remarked that there was urgent need by Kenyans to handle peace as a costly and valuable matter to social and economic development.
