Kisii and Nyamira leaders have come together to chart a future of the community in a bid to promote development.
Led by Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri, the leaders said that following rapid political changes being witnessed in the nation, Gusii community was ready to be part and parcel of the historical events in the country.
His sentiments were echoed by Borabu MP Ben Momanyi who alluded that every community was regrouping to chart their future on matters development saying the Gusii community too would chart their destiny.
The leaders unanimously agreed to work together as initially been shown by the country’s top leaders.
They added that the golden handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta was a recipe for peace in the nation.
They however called upon Gusii community to support their unity to foster social, economic and political development.
The leaders were addressing the press in a Kisii hotel after attending a Church service at Nyakoiba in Bomchoge on Saturday.
Kisii Deputy governor Joash Maangi, Nyamira senator Okong’o Omogeni, Woman Reps Janet Ongera (Kisii) and her Nyamira counterpart Jerusha Momanyi were among the top leaders from the two counties present.
MPs Alpha Miruka (Bomachge), Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango), Ben Momanyi (Borabu), Shadrack Mose (KitutuMasaba), Richard Tong’i (NyaribariChache), Innocent Obiri (Bobasi) and Simba Arati (Dagoretti North) were also in attendance.
