TWO General Service Unit officers and six other people have been charged in a Nairobi court with burglary at United Textile Mall in Eastlands.

Mohammed Bilow and Kahiya Omar allegedly broke into shops and stole Sh2.5 million property on August 25 and 26.

They are charged alongside Jamal Osman, Hassan Noor, Bilow Abdile, Gachin Dugow, Nassir Hassan and Peter Ndang’aru.

The eight denied 12 counts of burglary before chief magistrate Daniel Ogembo.

Police had been given 10 days to hold the suspects as they completed investigations into the theft.

The court heard several shops were broken into and property stolen.

Senior state counsel said 30 witnesses will testify.

Ogembo granted the eight Sh3 million bond or Sh500,000 bail each.

He set the hearing for November 18.
