A “reckless and greedy clique” of Jubilee operatives brought up the Yatta farm land grab claim to cover up corruption at NYS, Nominated senator Judith Sijeny has said.
She claimed the operatives intend to push the Ukambani boundary from Goliba to Kithimani.
Sijeny defended Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who has been acused of grabbing the 500-acre piece of land, saying he bought the farm from two willing sellers.
She identified the sellers as Janet Chirchir and Betracal company, and said the transaction was conducted in the early 90s.
“Jubilee must be extremely reckless and desperate to be talking about land grabbing,” she said in a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday.
“This issue is being raised now to try and suppress the weighty NYS scandal on procurement and recruitment. Jubilee is looking for scapegoats and a place to hide.”
Sijeny claimed the Jubilee government does not want talk on graft at the NYS where “billions are being used to militarise the youth”.
Jubilee can neither tolerate discussions about Weston Hotel, whose land grabbing case it should use to demonstrate seriousness in the war on graft, she added.
The administration holds government meetings at Weston and hosts delegations “to take care of one of their own”, she said.
The Nominated MP accused the state of sitting on the Ndung’u and TJRC reports whose implementation she said Cord has been demanding.
The government “must tell us the faces and names behind the attempt to grab Karen land, how the lease for Taita-Taveta land was renewed, who owns land in Lamuand how certain families came to own land the size of Nyanza province,” she said.
