Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi on Monday said his government would put in place structures to fast track identification and prioritization of ward based development projects.
Addressing Members of the County Assembly during a County Executive consultative meeting, the governor revealed that the ward based projects would address poverty, unemployment and inequalities in a bid to empower youth, women and people with disability.
He urged the MCAs to mobilize their constituents in identifying priority projects in their wards.
I am glad to note that we will be able to implement 300 ward based development projects in the 2017/2018 financial year, said Governor Abdi, adding that this impacted positively on the lives of the residents at the grassroots level.
Abdi further disclosed that he had directed that the ward based development projects be consolidated in ten days and captured in the County supplementary budget.
He further said that he had directed the county executive committee member for finance and economic planning to ensure that the ward based projects are implemented and paid for by third quarter of the financial year.
During the opening session of the current county assembly, the governor pledged to allocate sh 25 million to every ward, totaling to sh 750 million in the current financial year.
