Governor hands over flag to inter-county sports team

Uphold discipline, compete hard and bring medals home, this was Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya’s message, Sunday, when he handed over the County Flag to the team that will represent the devolved unit in 2018’s inter-county sports festivals.

Mvurya wished the team comprising 78 people including players and officials, success during the competitions to be held in Makueni County.

Addressing his team at Kwale High School before their departure, the Governor expressed confidence that the team will be back with trophies.

I have no doubt that the team will be back with most trophies, as it went through thorough and adequate preparations, said Mvurya.

Mohammed Hamisi, team captain said that the team was fully prepared and the coaches have done their best.

The team was carefully selected and coaches have given it their best in training, said Hamisi.

He said they were focused on performing better than earlier competitions where they were defeated at the quarter finals.

Hamisi added that the County Government had fully supported the team and it was now their time to reciprocate by performing well.
